DP SEA TIME REDUCTION (STR)

Course Aims

To allow eligible trainee DPOs to reduce the required DP sea time by enhancing their operational competence through intensive simulator-based training.

Course Objectives

On completion of this course, participants will be able to:

1. Demonstrate advanced DP operational skills in complex scenarios.
2. Correctly manage DP alarms, faults, and failures under time pressure.
3. Apply contingency and emergency procedures in accordance with best practice.
4. Assess consequences of failures and take appropriate recovery actions.
5. Show a level of competence equivalent to supervised onboard DP watchkeeping.
