DP Operator Competency Assessment

Assessment Aims

This assessment aims to evaluate and verify the competence of Dynamic Positioning (DP) Operators in safely operating a DP system in accordance with recognized industry standards and best practices.

Assessment Objectives

1. Assess the knowledge and practical skills of DP Operators in conducting DP operations.
2. Ensure operators can respond appropriately to both normal and emergency DP situations.
3. Verify competency in DP system understanding, watchkeeping practices, and operational procedures.
4. Confirm that the operator meets competency requirements aligned with the Nautical Institute (NI) DP Certification Scheme.

Assessment Method

1. Theoretical Assessment
2. Practical Assessment

Admission Requirements

Participant should be:

1. Certified DP Operator holding a valid NI DPO Certificate

Duration

Approximately 3 – 4 hours
