Course Aims
To provide a solid foundation in Dynamic Positioning (DP) principles, systems, and basic operations as preparation for DP sea time.
Course Objectives
On completion of this course, participants will be able to:
- Explain the principles and purpose of DP in offshore operations.
- Identify the main components of a DP system (power, thrusters, control, PRS, sensors).
- Describe the function of Position Reference Systems (PRS) and environmental sensors.
- Understand power generation, distribution, and propulsion in DP vessels.
- Perform basic DP operations on a simulator in a safe and controlled manner.
